Introduction of Yizumi Two-platen Injection Molding Machine

As we know, for heavy tonnage injection molding machines, two-platen type clamping unit has many distinct advantages compared with the traditional toggle-style one, such as longer mold opening stroke and larger mold capacity which allow the use of larger molds and injection molding of deeper-cavity products, smaller occupation area because of no toggles, equal distribution of clamping force and smooth motions. However, two-platen injection molding machines are more technologically demanding. Design of the structure, control system and method and manufacture of the key parts all are part of the difficulties that should be overcome. At present, top few injection molding machine manufacturers in China have developed their own two-platen machines, but they still lag behind the world-class level in mechanical properties, reliability, precision, operating speed, service life and other aspects.

Based on years of development in technology, especially the breakthroughs in control technology and structure design, and supported by a mature R&D system and a team of experienced experts focusing on R&D and design, Yizumi qualifies for the research and development of high-performance two-platen injection molding machine. Through long-term market researches since 2008, Yizumi’s project team fully understood the market demands and features of competitors’ products, and then finalized the R&D plan and goal. Years of efforts paid off at the beginning of 2013; Trial manufacture of Yizumi’s first two-platen injection molding machine UN1000DP succeeded.

Yizumi’s two-platen injection molding is intended to be a leading product in China and reach near world-class level, trying to catch up with the same kind of top machines made by manufacturers such as ENGLE and KRASSMAFEI in terms of technology. So far, technical specifications of Yizumi’s sample machine have basically achieved the goals, and features are as follows:

1. Larger mold capacity, longer mold opening stroke and more space between tie bars. Yizumi’s UN1000DP two-platen molding machine has the maximum mold thickness compared with domestic counterparts of the same tonnage, which means the machine can hold larger molds and is more competitive in injection molding of deep-cavity parts.

2. Fast mold opening and closing with dry cycle of 6.7 seconds (EUROMAP 6). Domestic two-platen injection molding machines lag furthest behind the world-class level in the performance indicator of dry cycle. For 1000T two-platen injection molding machines made by ENGLE and KRASSMAFFEI, their dry cycle is about 4.5 seconds. However, dry cycle of most of the domestic counterparts is up to 8 seconds, even 10 seconds sometimes, which considerably lowers the operating efficiency of the machines. It is remarkable that Yizumi’s 1000T two platen injection molding machine can work smoothly with dry cycle of 6.7 seconds. At present, optimization of the control program is in progress and Yizumi’s machine will have better and outstanding performance when it is launched.

3. One-button mold height adjusting program. After installing the new mold, automatic mold height adjustment is available only by pressing a key. Complicated calculation and debugging are unnecessary. This function provides customers with more ease of use and much better experience.

4. Patented sliding base for moveable platen, which is longer and has a higher support point. As the theory indicates that the support stiffness is proportional to the cube of the height of support point, the long and high sliding base can prevent the mold tilting forwards due to overweight.

5. Less easily damaged moving parts that need lubrication, easy maintenance and longer service of the machines. As the moveable platen is completely separated from the tie bars, there is no friction of motion or wear and tear and thus lubrication for maintenance is not needed. With the design of easy dismantlement and replacement, customers can replace the consumable parts easily and restore the factory-set clamping precision of the machine working for a long time.

6. Patented variable-pitch locknut which is more reliable. Failure of the lock nut and tie bars is a major cause of early failure of domestic two-platen injection molding machines. Finite analysis shows that the force is mainly applied to the front teeth where the lock nut and tie bar contact. Uneven distribution of force and excessive concentration of stress is the principal cause of failure. Therefore, Yizumi applies variable-pitch lock nut to the machine so that the stress can be distributed to the tie bars and lock nut more evenly and the maximum stress can be substantially reduced, which brings higher reliability.
